Dear Friends and Family,
Happy Christmas Season and Happy New Year! How exciting this season is: the fulfillment of our time of waiting for Jesus – from Advent to Christmas – and a new season, a new year, an opportunity for new resolutions, fresh starts, and expectant faith!
This past year has been an amazing one living in Rome – with challenges, joys, new experiences, and a deeper appreciation for home.
You are receiving this email because you have been part of this journey with me in one way or another and I am grateful to share with you God’s continuing faithfulness!
2019 – Expectant Faith
2019 will include a few milestones, both for me personally and for the service that I’m doing for the Lord.

With New Eyes – 50th Birthday Retreat!
2019 marks a personal milestone as I celebrate my 50th birthday on January 31st. Several years ago I was able to take a 4-day retreat on my birthday and I have tried to take some time each year, whether it’s one day or a couple, to specifically reflect on the previous year and prepare for all that God has planned for the upcoming year. This year I have an opportunity to get away by the sea, however, I could use a little help and have set up a Birthday Fund through PayPal. Would you consider buying me a virtual cup of coffee for my birthday? If so, click on the coffee cup to go to the PayPal page (you don’t need a PayPal account to participate). Please pray for me during the retreat – Jan 31-Feb 4 – and I will keep you all in my prayers as well! Blessings!
From ICCRS to CHARIS
Most of you know that I am working for the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS). At Pentecost 2019 (June) my service will be complete as ICCRS is finishing it’s service and CHARIS will become the new International Service to the Renewal. This is an exciting time. I hope to know in the next couple months whether CHARIS will offer contracts to the existing ICCRS staff or if my time in Rome is at it’s conclusion. Please keep this time of transition in your prayers. It truly is a time of expectant faith, as the Holy Spirit takes us into this new season!
2018 Reflections
You might wonder why I put the reflections at the end. I must admit that I am in the process of posting for the past 12 months. One of my resolutions for 2019 is to be better at posting on my blog – yes, I actually have a blog: blog.day50communications.com
Here is a taste of the stories that are to come:
- An early lesson in the Italian Health System.
- Driving in Italy! (Yes, I did bring my International Driver’s License)
- Easter at Sion!
- Joyful lessons from falling in a bunch of bird poo! (no, that’s not a typo)
- Attempting to escape the heat of Rome: Cambridge, Oxford, Tolkien, and Souvlaki!
- Thanksgiving Dinner – the journey of the Turkey!!
I will post these reflections and the lessons I learned from each, as well as upcoming experiences on my blog page. I hope they will be inspiring, give a bit of a laugh, and if nothing else be an example of how we are all human.
Thank you again for being with me on this journey! I hope to keep this up-to-date better this year. Know that you can contact me personally by one of the links below. May God bless you and your families and may this year bring surprises by the Holy Spirit!
